This week  was Chalk the Walks in Downtown Shelton.  This event is sponsored by the Shelton-Mason Chamber of Commerce and is designed to engage the community in decorating the sidewalks with original artwork, sayings or fun drawings.  Sound Learning Adult Basic Education students, Amber, Karen and Christina joined in the fun.

We celebrated this wonderful holiday season on December 6th at the Colonial House in Shelton.  Thank you to Green Diamond Resources for allowing us to use this historical setting.  You can see all the photos of the evening on the photo gallery page.

Thanks to a generous grant from Green Diamond Resources and donations from private individuals we are able to pilot a new Bridge class. The bridge class is designed to "bridge" the gap for students who are between the advanced level of the English Language Acquisition (ELA) program and the  beginning level of the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program.

HS21+ is a competency based program where students can earn credits towards a high school diploma. Sound Learning is excited to be the first community-based organization to offer this program through our unique partnership with South Puget Sound Community College.

Another successful Oyster Fest has come and gone, and we thank all of the volunteers who helped staff our information booth, pass out books, and monitor the RV gate entrances. We would also like to send a big thank you to all who came to Oyster Fest and visited our booth. We had a lot of interest in our organization this year, and people where really excited to hear about mission and impact in the community.
