2018 Spell-E-Bration is Coming!

It's time to Catch the Buzz once again.
Sound Learning’s 24th annual “Spell-E-Bration”, a community spelling bee and auction fundraiser, will be at the Shelton Civic Center on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Teams compete to win the coveted Top Spelling Champs Award. The competition is always fun for the participants, judges, and the audience. Teams create a theme for themselves and dress to impress in costumes. In addition to the “Bee” we will also have a CashSwarm, Balloon Pop and a Silent Auction.
There are several ways to participate in this exciting and fun-filled event.
-
Make a cash donation. Click on the Sponsorship opportunities button at the top of the page and find out the benefits of sponsorship.
-
Donate an in-kind item valued at $50 or more for the silent auction.
-
Donate something for our dessert/appetizer bar.
-
You can sponsor a team by donating the full amount or an amount towards co-sponsoring a team.
-
Volunteer to help with planning, setting up, various duties during the event and of course, clean-up.
-
Do one or more of the above.
We'd like to field 18 teams this year, so spread the word to all of your friends and colleagues. That would bring in $9,000 just for team sponsorships! Once again, there is a $10.00 per team member ($30/team) registration fee, which will be waived for teams who bring their own sponsor, or sponsors.
As in past years, Spelling Bee teams will consist of three spellers, high school-aged and above. They will compete for the winner's trophy in the atmosphere of friendly community support and spirited rivalry we have all come to expect. Each team will be sponsored by a business or community member (or members); more than one sponsor per team is a great way to get folks involved. The donation for one team sponsorship remains $500. Letters are being mailed to all of our team sponsors from last year's event. If you and your team want to compete again, please let us know as soon as possible. Or you can form a new team!
Remember that the Spell-E-Bration is the major fund-raiser of the year for Sound Learning. Proceeds help to support the work of the many dedicated staff and volunteers who provide tutoring at locations throughout Mason and Thurston counties. Besides help with reading, math, computer literacy, HS21+ and GED preparation, we offer English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes in conversation, reading, writing, math, and civics. Last year our volunteers and staff provided these essential education services for 189 adults.
Together, with supporters like you, we are helping to build a better community.
