Bilingual Part-time ESOL Classroom Aide
The Bilingual English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Classroom Aide will work with ESOL Level 1 students in the Sound Learning Eve. ESOL Program on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday eves. from 5:30 to 8:30 pm in Shelton, WA. This is a 9 hr/wk position and requires in-person teaching. The classroom aide will deliver Sound Learning curriculum and facilitate English language learning (reading, writing, math, speaking, listening, and technology skills) with adults and out-of-school youth (age 16+) who are immigrants.
Students represent a variety of ages and abilities, and come from a range of ethnic, socio-economic and educational backgrounds. This position requires the ability to facilitate interactive learning with limited English speakers. The classroom aide will work collaboratively with and under the supervision of the ESOL Level 1-2 Instructor. Spanish language skills are required. This is a part-time, hourly position. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities:

Assist the lead instructor with instruction during face-to-face classes.

Follow provided lesson plans and activities which incorporate learner-centered themes and approaches.

Collaborate with the ESOL Instructor to deliver classes and support volunteer tutors placed in the classroom (if necessary).

Maintain close communication with the lead instructor.

Follow all COVID-19 protocols which include: mask wearing, social distancing, sanitizing and current on vaccination for COVID-19.

Orientation, training, and guidance will be provided by the lead instructor.
The Ideal Candidate will:

Be bilingual in English and Spanish; Fluency in Mam a plus

Have a High School Diploma or equivalent

Have experience working with or interacting with immigrants

Be patient, flexible and creative

Be sensitive to cultural diversity

Be able to follow directions

Have strong communication skills

Have strong English language, reading, & writing skills

Be able to work independently, under direct supervision, and as part of a team

Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 as per school district policy

Prior teaching experience a plus (not required)
Work Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (9 hours per week)
Pay: $15.00/hr.
