Adult Basic Education / HS+ / GED

HS+ (High School Plus) classes are designed to help students who are., 1. 19yrs or older, or 2. 16yrs and older and officially withdrawn from school by parent or guardian. Some have earned HS credits in the past, but some, especially older students, may have no credits or no way to get their transcripts. These students work with teachers and tutors using curriculum approved by WA State, to complete a High School Diploma. Staff can evaluate existing credits as well as work with the individual to create a “Prior Learning” document that contains work and life experience that has provided them with knowledge, skills, and abilities that may be able to be converted to “credit” in a range of subject areas.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes are designed to provide learner-centered educational opportunities to enhance basic skills such as, reading, writing, math, problem solving and communication. Many of our students are working towards improving their skills to get a promotion at their current job or finding a better paying job.
GED classes have been developed to provide subject specific education to prepare the student for the GED competency tests. Instructors and volunteers work with students to determine what additional classes are needed to pass the GED and then create a plan to help the student complete the necessary studies. Each student has the opportunity to work one-on-one with the instructor and individualized tutoring as needed.
